Floyd Fried All City Jazz Festival
In collaboration with the Buffalo Public Schools, The Buffalo Jazz Collective will hold the first annual Floyd Fried All-City Jazz Festival on February 3-4.
The festival will culminate on February 4th with a concert including several high school jazz ensembles, the all-city jazz ensemble, and the award-winning, Mark Filsinger Eleventet.
Where: Hutchinson Central Technical High School, 256 S. Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, NY 14201
How: Tickets are $5 at the door. All proceeds go toward the continuance and expansion of the Floyd Fried All City Jazz Festival.
In addition, students from the Buffalo Academy of Visual and Performing Arts Choir will have the opportunity to perform on February 11th alongside Buffalo Jazz Collective Artistic Directors and special guest, Pete Malinverni. The performance will include the Western New York premier of Malinverni's, "The Creation".
In November, we held auditions for the All City Jazz Ensemble. We selected the top students from BAVPA, City Honors, Hutch Tech, Olmsead 156, and South Park High Schools. We selected students from each school to put together the All-City Jazz Ensemble and have been rehearsing every Friday in January -- it's a great band that you won't want to miss!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE THE FLOYD FRIED ALL-CITY JAZZ FESTIVAL FUNDRAISER A SUCCESS!
Attendees enjoyed music from the Buffalo Youth Jazz Workshop, Brendan Lanighan Quartet, and Mark Filsinger Eleventet. We ended up raising 1/3 of the amount needed to run the jazz festival as planned. The money raised will be applied toward making participation in the festival completely free for students and schools..
